ANIMAL CARE
Animal care is a vital part of work and generally involves feeding, cleaning, nursing baby kittens, providing physical therapy, giving basic medication, clipping nails, and most importantly – giving them love and affection. Many animals have been through traumatizing experiences on the streets and some can be wary of humans, so by spending time with them, you help to build their trust and increase their chance of finding a forever home!
We’re looking for volunteers who can come to ARC consistently and care for our animals- regardless of schedule. You don’t have to have any experience in a similar role, but a love for animals and being happy to get your hands dirty is a must.
We would prefer volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 3-5 days a week for a minimum of one month. The reason for this minimum commitment is that it is necessary to provide training, which takes time. However, don’t be discouraged if you can’t commit to this schedule! Please let us know your availability and we can work with you to find a place.
“Being a volunteer at ARC is an experience I wouldn’t trade for the world. Every day there is something different and new. One day I might be helping a cat learn to walk again, another might be spent snuggling a litter of kittens. You never know what new or exciting project will arise during your time here. And what’s more, you are able to see the change you’ve made. You can see the difference in the faces of the animals you’ve helped and also the people who know ARC and respect the Mission. I’m so thrilled I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the staff, the animals, and the friendly people of Cambodia.” Shaldon Berndt, USA
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
If you have experience and interest in fundraising, administration, graphic design, or copywriting, then come and volunteer with our office team to help out behind the scenes. We are also looking for people with skills in photography or videography to come along to one of our outreach visits to a community or pagoda to capture the spirit of our work.
Depending on your skills and interest, you could be helping with our fundraising efforts, maintaining our website and social media channels, creating blog posts, or assisting with data entry. This is a great opportunity to gain some experience directly in the field and work closely with our office team to improve the outreach of our mission. The only thing you need to bring is your laptop and a motivated attitude!
“I wanted to gain some experience working in an NGO with a mission that I am passionate about and to learn about running an organization. I have had the opportunity to help out with everything related to fundraising and communications and every day I do something different which keeps things interesting. The team has been incredibly helpful and approachable and I have really loved coming into the office, especially when you can take a break and play with friendly dogs and cute kittens! I definitely feel like I have gained an unforgettable experience and I feel that I am helping to make a difference in the lives of rescued animals.” Caroline Fitzgerald, Ireland
QUALIFIED VETERINARIANS
We are always interested in welcoming veterinarians to our center, even for just a few days. We often need help from veterinarians to treat, neuter, and operate on street animals. We also need veterinarians to mentor our Cambodian veterinary trainees.
VETERINARY INTERNS
We are committed to increasing the quality of veterinary care and encourage veterinary students to join our team for their internships. You can apply to work for two weeks or longer to learn from our in-house veterinarian. You will shadow our vet and vet assistants in the day-to-day running of the center, observe surgeries, learn how to give medication, and physiotherapy to our animals, and help out in any way you can.
Students may also be eligible to use their internship towards university credits.
